A quiet and genuine home right in the business and adminisrative center of Budapest, within a short walking distance from major sites: Chain Bridge, Parliament, Basilica :: within 5 minutes Buda Castle, Margaret Island, Synagogue, ruin pub disctrict :: within 15-20 minutes 4 grocery stores, 5+ cafés, 30+ restaurants :: within 5 minutes The apartment is comfortably suitable for up to 5 adults, or up to 6 people if some of these are toddlers. The apartment is situated on the top (4th) floor of a building that was built around 1870 and completely renovated in 1990. There's a new elevator. This is a residential building, so you'll feel the vibe of actually living in the city, not just a soulless hotel or a run-of-the-mill Airbnb. The apartment is a duplex. On the lower floor you'll find a spacious dining area with 6 chairs, a well-equipped kitchen with all appliances. Pots and pans, plates, mugs, utensils, dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, water boiler, toaster. (No tumble dryer, but we have drying lines, an iron, and an ironing board.) You can find plenty of basic food and cooking items such as cooking oil, spices, sugar, flour, pasta, rice, cocoa powder, etc. If anything runs out, please buy a new package. There's also a living room with a TV set, lots of books, and board games. We also have some guidebooks. Disclaimer: the windows open to the internal courtyard, not on the street. There are no sweeping views of the city – but as a compensation, you get to enjoy peace and quiet. The apartment is fully baby friendly: we have high-chair, baby bed, baby utensils, potty, trainer toilet seat, even a small table with toddler chairs, plus some toys for toddler and older children. A staircase leads up to the upper floor. Some elderly guests complained that it’s too narrow for them, and there’s no fence. Also, the space may be a bit narrow for large (20 kg) suitcases. Then again, we’ve had several elderly guests (even with hip replacement) who walked up without any problem. The upper floor boasts two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom, a storage room, and a cozy reading nook. The smaller bedroom is about 18 m2, and has a queen-size bed, a desk, and an office chair. The larger bedroom is about 25 m2, L-shaped, with a king-size bed, and a convertible sofa that we usually keep open to sleep one more person. There are 3 air-con units in the apartment: one in each bedroom, plus one in the living room. All A/C units can be used for cooling and heating. Btw, heating is strong and reliable, usually working from early October till late April. The bathroom is on the upper floor, with a large tub that doubles as a shower zone, a toilet, and a sink. We do have a hair dryer. There’s also a storage room with extra pillows, blankets, towels, and sheets. There’s also a hanger area for your clothes. The upper floor is under the roof, with skylights (roof windows). We use outer sun shades during the warm months to reflect some of the sunlight and keep the rooms cooler. All windows can be completely darkened. The apartment has a special atmosphere, a genuine home. You can see some artefacts we brought home from various backpacking trips when we were younger. A tablecloth from Esfahan, plates from Samarkand, hats from Central Asia and the Caucasus area, a warrior couple from Nairobi, a salt sack from Yerevan, and more. You’ll love it here. Internet is fast and reliable.
